I’ve never lit a cigarette using an electrical arc before and was curious how it would work. It is a little weird but does work fine. I used it for a couple of days (down to 2 lights) and then charged it fully. It charged up very quickly. The lighter is very solid and much heavier than a butane lighter. This may be good or bad depending on your preferences. To use the lighter you flip the top open, the charge indicator lights light up, and you press the button on the side. The arc will run as long as you press the button. Releasing the button stops the arc, and closing the lid turns the lighter off. All very good and well thought out. I’m very pleased with this lighter. It is more expensive than a butane lighter and takes a little time to get used to, but does the job very well. I have heard that this type of lighter burns out quickly and does not last as long as butane lighters, I guess time will tell. If you are familiar with this type of lighter or just curious and want to try something new, then this lighter is worth considering.

This lighter produces corona discharge. Corona discharge has greater surface and volumetric area than a simple narrow arc plasma. It only takes 3-4 seconds to fully light a thick cigarette, about the same amount of time as when using a butane flame. I have an older plasma arc lighter, and it takes 15-20 seconds to fully light the same type cigarette. This lighter will light anything a flame will light, including pipes. It is a beautiful device. I am very happy with it.
